For in six days the LORD made...
The study of origins is a topic involving much speculation because the object of study can not be directly observed. The word 'science' and the word 'knowledge' can many times be interchanged because they both describe our ability to know something. We can know where the moon is because there are many people that can verify its location. We can use science to measure the current distance to the moon and be confident the scientists are reasonably correct because others have also tested and verified the results. The study of the moon's current location can be considered science because the object of study is empirical (observable, measurable, repeatable).
When someone asks how the moon formed we are required to leave the realm of empirical science and enter the liberal art of forensics. Evolution teaches that the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is were created by unobserved processes that are not repeatable and not directly testable today. The Bible teaches that in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day (Exodus 20:11). These two world views are completely opposite and if the Bible is true you may have more invested in the answer than you think.
